Catterick-based IT specialists, Razorblue, are investing thousands of pounds to assist with the company’s growth and to further enhance its range of services for customers.

Razorblue, which also has bases in Leeds and York, specialises in consultancy, managed IT services, hosted solutions and connectivity for a wide range of SMEs, business parks and public sector organisations across the UK.

Razorblue is now investing over £100,000 in their state-of-the-art network to provide faster, highly-resilient connectivity for their wide range of clients.

The new 10GB backbone network spans several datacentres and business parks across the North East and Yorkshire, allowing Razorblue to provide connectivity that is both robust and cost effective for a variety of businesses.

Chris Gill, commercial director of Razorblue, said: “This marks the first phase of our £120,000 network upgrade programme. We are committed to being at the forefront of ISP services and, by moving our entire infrastructure to a common platform, we can ensure that the service we provide is second to none.”

“This new core network is much faster and offers a number of new features. It gives us a strong foundation for expansion and will enable us to offer new and innovative services.”

The new network uses EX series switches and MX series routers from Juniper Networks to power the new infrastructure.

Dan Kitchen, technical director at Razorblue, commented: “Having already used some Juniper devices within our network with excellent results in the past, we felt their equipment was the only option and will offer very real benefits to both our current and future clients. Our network upgrade means that companies can now access bandwidth at a fraction of the cost offered by national providers.”

Dan Kitchen, from Darlington, established Razorblue in 2006. Last year the business re-located to larger premises at Colburn Business Park in Catterick to allow it to grow further with five more new jobs planned for the next twelve months.

To cope with its growth and contracts with a range of organisations and SMEs throughout the North East and across Yorkshire, last year Razorblue recruited ten new members of staff, doubling its workforce to twenty.

The company has also opened bases in Leeds city centre and York as its client portfolio expands into new regions.
