 The Town Hall, Hebden Bridge, near Halifax, is a stunning building that had been under-used and neglected over the years.

However, in 2010 the Hebden Bridge Community Association - a charitable organisation made up of around 600 members - took over its ownership, bringing it back to life and making it the hub of the community once more.

The overall aim was to make The Town Hall a place for local people and groups to meet and work, providing a range of services and activities for businesses and visitors. It is now becoming a popular venue for meetings, conferences, events and weddings.

To make this possible, The Town Hall required suitable IT facilities to meet a range of needs.

The Challenges

The Community Association met with various providers to discuss specific needs. However many were unable to fulfil their requirements; broadband in the area is poor and costs had to be kept to a minimum, but extensive, reliable wifi, a practical telephone system and a secure tenant network were all vital.

  • 30 MB of dedicated bandwidth over fibre was installed providing tenants and members of the public using the Town Hall with fast, reliable Wi-Fi.

  • A VoIP system saved hundreds of pounds on expensive on-site telephone systems, by using razorblue’s hosted solution.

  • Everything is managed and remotely monitored by razorblue, saving thousands on the need for on-site IT management.
